Provoking Magic: Lighting of Ingo Maurer
After qualifying as a graphic designer in Munich, Ingo Maurer left Germany for the USA in 1960, moving back in 1963 and founding 'Design M' (his lamp design company). Since 1989, Ingo Maurer’s lighting innovations have been displayed in noted exhibitions throughout Europe and Japan and more recently in 2007, Ingo Maurer’s lighting exhibition entitled “Provoking Magic: Lighting of Ingo Maurer”, was on show In New York's Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum.

Ingo Maurer is reputedly fascinated by what he terms the “magical and mystical” properties of light and continually experiments in his lighting design objects, constructing luminous atmospheres which play with the traditional concepts of shadow, brightness and colour.
